Laufey Platforms and PC

God of War Laufey is a PlayStation 5 game only, PS5 Pro Enhanced, with no PS4 version and no PC or Steam version announced as of Nov 4, 2026. It comes on disc as well as digitally on May 20, 2027.

God of War Laufey is coming to PlayStation 5 only: PlayStation's page lists no other platform, Game Informer calls it a PS5 exclusive, and the game is PS5 Pro Enhanced with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). There is no PS4 version, and no PC, Steam or Epic version had been announced as of Nov 4, 2026. Both earlier Norse games did reach PC later, God of War (2018) after almost four years and Ragnarok after under two, but Sony has said nothing about Laufey on PC. The game is sold on disc as well as digitally, and it comes out on May 20, 2027, before Sony stops making discs for new games in January 2028.

Is God of War Laufey a PS5 exclusive?

Yes, as of Nov 4, 2026. PlayStation's FAQ answers that it is available on the PlayStation 5 console only, and Game Informer's delay story calls it a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Sony has made no statement that it will stay that way forever; "exclusive" here means the only platform announced.

Is God of War Laufey on PS4?

No. Unlike Ragnarok, which came out on PS4 and PS5 together in 2022, Laufey has never been announced for PS4, and every official page names PS5 alone.

What does PS5 Pro Enhanced mean for Laufey?

PlayStation's page lists the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced, using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, Sony's upscaling, on a compatible 4K display. The page does not give resolutions, frame rates or graphics modes for either console, and Santa Monica Studio had not published them as of Nov 4, 2026. On a standard PS5, the page lists Tempest 3D Audio (with setup), fast loading from the SSD, and DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

Is God of War Laufey coming to PC or Steam?

Not announced. No PC, Steam or Epic Games Store version of Laufey had been mentioned by Sony or Santa Monica Studio as of Nov 4, 2026, and the game has no Steam page. PlayStation's FAQ for the game names only PS5. Any PC date seen elsewhere is a guess.

0:01 What the studio's past games show is that the Norse God of War games have come to PC later, on Steam and the Epic Games Store, both ported with Jetpack Interactive:

Game	PlayStation release	PC release	Gap
God of War (2018)	Apr 20, 2018 (PS4)	Jan 14, 2022	3 years, 8 months
God of War Ragnarok	Nov 9, 2022 (PS4, PS5)	Sep 19, 2024	1 year, 10 months
God of War Laufey	May 20, 2027 (PS5)	Not announced	Not known

Sources: Metacritic: God of War; Steam: God of War; Metacritic: God of War Ragnarok; PlayStation Blog, May 30, 2024, all read Nov 4, 2026.

That pattern is not a promise. The Ragnarok PC version was announced in May 2024, about 18 months after the console release, and at launch required a PlayStation Network account, a rule Sony made optional for Ragnarok on Jan 29, 2025. As of Nov 4, 2026, Ragnarok holds 89% positive of 16,542 English reviews on Steam. The PC versions of the earlier games, with their requirements, are on God of War PC Requirements.

Is there a physical copy of God of War Laufey?

Yes. Santa Monica Studio confirmed on X on Jul 10, 2026 that "God of War Laufey will be available on disc", and PlayStation sells the Standard Edition digital or physical. The pre-order bonus comes as a download code inside the box, which needs an internet connection and a PlayStation account. The Digital Deluxe Edition is digital only; see Laufey Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses.

Does Sony's end of discs affect Laufey?

No. Sony said on Jul 1, 2026 that disc production for new PlayStation console games ends in January 2028, with later games digital only, citing shifting consumer preference; games released on disc before then keep their discs. GamesRadar+ read the Jul 10 disc confirmation as pointing to a release before that cutoff, and the delayed date, May 20, 2027, is still about eight months before it.

What is God of War Laufey rated?

Not rated yet. As of Nov 4, 2026 the PlayStation Store shows ESRB "Rating Pending" with a Mature 17+ icon and the note that it may contain content inappropriate for children. PEGI and other ratings had not been published. Every earlier Norse game was rated Mature by the ESRB.

The release date and its history are on Laufey Release Date, and the game itself on God of War Laufey.
