The State of Play gameplay reveal (Jun 2, 2026)

17:46 The reveal was the last segment of the Jun 2, 2026 State of Play, a show that also had Insomniac's Wolverine, and it ended months of rumors about a game starring Faye. Insider Gaming describes it as uncut footage from the start of the game, with cutscenes and combat run together. Kotaku, Game Informer's preview and Insider Gaming put the play at about 20 minutes; Game Informer's reveal story says 23 minutes, which is likely the whole video.

What it shows, in order, as the press described it:

• The pyre. Faye's body burns on her funeral pyre, the first scene of God of War (2018), and as her ashes rise she wakes in the afterlife, surrounded by what look like fairies, in a mysterious forest.
• The fight and the capture. Sword in hand, she crosses ruins and kills enemies, until two armored foes seize her and her blade shatters on their armor.
• The captors. They mistreat the realm's creatures and bring her before a red-skinned demon lord and a blue-skinned woman, who pulls a splinter from her palm; they threaten to kill her and are distracted by a light in the distance.
• Sekhmet. Game Informer identifies the Egyptian goddess of war Sekhmet as an antagonist in the trailer.
• Phranque. A talking cube with a sword stuck in him helps her escape captivity and take the sword back, and she talks with him on the road.

21:40 The reveal gave no release date or window, closing on "Coming soon to PlayStation 5!" and opening wishlists on the PlayStation Store. The world and its gods are on The Everywhen and Sekhmet and Begtse, and the companions on Phranque and Rue.

The PlayStation Blog's reveal videos (Jun 2, 2026)

The PlayStation Blog's reveal post, written by Santa Monica Studio's Grace Orlady, embeds five videos under its sections. In order: the announcement video, "First look at God of War Laufey"; an interview with Game Director Ariel Lawrence and Head of Creative Cory Barlog on how the game came about and the series' long-term plans; a segment with the narrative director and lead writer on what is known about Faye going into the story and on the afterlife of the gods; a segment on the companions Phranque and Rue under "Adventuring party"; and a gameplay segment under "Lethal agility", previewing Faye's combat. The post does not name the narrative director or the lead writer.

Introducing Faye

A behind-the-scenes video titled "Official Introducing Faye Behind The Scenes" is among the official uploads that search results name, and the blog's reveal post has a section headed "Introducing Faye". Its channel, date and exact content were not confirmed for this page, so it is listed without a date. What is known about Faye herself is on Faye and Deborah Ann Woll.

Game Informer's interview (Jun 16, 2026)

Not an official trailer, but the longest conversation on video so far: Game Informer's Jun 16, 2026 preview was built on a sit-down between Barlog and Lawrence after the reveal, published with a video in which Barlog interviews his game director. It is where Lawrence says "Faye is dead and she finds herself in the afterlife of the gods."

The Comic-Con date trailer (Jul 24, 2026)

0:01 The San Diego Comic-Con panel "God of War Laufey - Forging God of War's Next Heroes", on Friday, Jul 24, 2026 in Ballroom 20, brought Lawrence and Barlog together with Deborah Ann Woll, Christopher Judge, Jack Quaid and Perlina Lau, the cast's first appearance since the reveal. It ended on a short trailer giving the release date, Feb 16, 2027, which Santa Monica Studio also posted on X; Game Informer's embed of that post is dated Jul 25, the evening of Jul 24 in San Diego. The PlayStation Blog promised to post full panel recordings after the show. PlayStation's game page now carries a panel video under the heading "Forging God of War's next heroes". The date it gave was later moved; see Laufey Release Date. The clip is IGN's Daemon Hatfield and Ginny Glaze reporting the date from Comic-Con.

Combat and the pre-orders trailer (Sep 2026)

0:04 The Serpent Bow and the editions were revealed on Sep 28, 2026, a day before pre-orders opened on Sep 29 at 10:00 am local time. The blog post itself has no embedded video, but official pre-orders videos followed: PlayStation's "Pre-Orders Open Now" and IGN's upload of it as "Official Pre-Orders Open Trailer", both on Sep 29, 2026. PlayStation's game page also carries a combat video under the heading "How does combat work in God of War Laufey?". The weapons they show are on Laufey Gameplay and Combat, and the editions on Laufey Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses. The clip is PlayStation's "Pre-Orders Open Now" trailer, a mix of gameplay and in-game cinematics captured on PS5 Pro, ending on the Feb 16, 2027 date it then carried.
