Freya in God of War (2018)

24:21 Kratos and Atreus befriend her as a witch living in the woods. She is in fact Baldur's mother and Odin's former wife (Frigg in the myths), exiled after their falling out (SVG). Her spell made Baldur invulnerable to every living thing except mistletoe and left him unable to feel; Atreus's mistletoe arrow pierces Baldur, he turns on his mother, and Kratos breaks his neck to stop him killing her. Freya takes her son's body and vows revenge. Optional content reveals she once led the Valkyries, whose wings were taken when she was banished, and Mimir says she is searching for where Odin hid them.

Freya in God of War Ragnarok

Ragnarok opens with her hunting the pair. "It has been a few winters since her son Baldur died at Kratos' hand, and Freya is set on vengeance," PlayStation writes, and she has sacrificed much to take up her sword again. Kratos breaks Odin's curse on her, and she agrees to help defeat Odin (Den of Geek). After the war Kratos tells Freya and Mimir there is "much to do, much to rebuild" (MP1st). She can fight beside Kratos in the Niflheim Arena added with New Game Plus on Apr 5, 2023 (PlayStation Blog), and the free Dark Odyssey Collection of Mar 20, 2025 gave her an outfit (PlayStation Blog).

13:50 At the end of Valhalla, Kratos takes his throne as a God of Hope in Freya's new pantheon (Dexerto). In the clip, Skill Up explains that Valhalla begins with Freya asking Kratos to join her council as the God of War.
