Santa Monica Studio's next Kratos-led God of War game will directly follow the events of God of War Laufey, Cory Barlog said at San Diego Comic-Con on Jul 24, 2026. It has no title, platform or date as of Nov 4, 2026; the Greek trilogy remake is the other announced project.

At the game's San Diego Comic-Con panel on Jul 24, 2026, Cory Barlog "accidentally" revealed that a Kratos-led game will directly follow the events of Laufey, and Engadget, citing IGN, reported the studio confirming another Kratos-led game. Is there a new Kratos game?

Yes, announced but not shown. Laufey is the first main God of War game whose hero is not Kratos: Faye (Laufey) wakes in The Everywhen after her funeral, at the start of God of War (2018). Its makers have been plain that Kratos will be back. In Game Informer's interview after the Jun 2, 2026 reveal, Barlog said "There's always going to be Kratos games throughout the whole history", and director Ariel Lawrence added "We can't not tell stories about the big guy." The Comic-Con remark tied the next one to Laufey's ending.

What else is coming?

1:24 The God of War Trilogy Remake, a remake of the first three games announced on Feb 12, 2026, is "still very early in development", and no developer, platform or date has been named. Whether it or the Kratos sequel comes first is not known. On television, the God of War TV Series for Prime Video has no premiere date.

No leak about the Kratos sequel from a named reputable outlet was found. Earlier reports were about Laufey itself: in Jun 2026 the insider NateTheHate said its target had been the first half of 2027, and Bloomberg's Jason Schreier answered "Definitely not" when asked about 2028. Neither said anything about the game after it.
