God of War has three novels (two Greek-era books from Random House Worlds and Titan Books' 2018 novelization), comics from WildStorm and Dark Horse, Dark Horse art books, Lore and Legends, and the two-volume 20th Anniversary Retrospective.
God of War's books are a small shelf: three prose novels, two comic runs plus a Dark Horse sequel series, and a set of art and lore books. The novels retell God of War (2005), God of War II and God of War (2018); the Dark Horse comics fill gaps around Kratos's life; and the art books, most from Dark Horse, document the games. No book or comic about God of War Laufey, due May 20, 2027, has been announced as of Nov 4, 2026, beyond the digital mini artbook in its Digital Deluxe Edition and the physical mini artbook in its Collector Box.

The first novel follows the 2005 game, Kratos sent by the Olympians to kill Ares; the second follows the 2007 sequel, Kratos exiled from Olympus and siding with the Titans. Titan's novelization tells the 2018 Norse story. No Ragnarok novel turned up in Penguin Random House's catalog as of Nov 4, 2026.
Comics
DC's WildStorm published a God of War series in 2010 by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Andrea Sorrentino. Issue 1 cuts between Kratos as the new God of War hunting ambrosia and his youth in Sparta; IGN scored it 4.7 and later gave issue 4 a 4.5.
Dark Horse picked the license up for the Norse era, with writer Chris Roberson and artist Tony Parker:

Lore and Legends is presented as Atreus's journal from the 2018 game, expanded with new lore, a bestiary and character files. The Retrospective, a two-volume set announced for the series' 20th anniversary, draws on interviews with the teams behind 20 years of games; Dark Horse also sells a Deluxe Edition. Ragnarok's Digital Deluxe Edition carried a Dark Horse digital art book.
PlayStation's free lore companion is not a book: The Lost Pages is a web book and podcast on Norse myth, whose fifth chapter shares its name with A Call from the Wilds.
